Home Staging for the Soul

Staging a property is all about setting the ideal scene. If you have ever seen a stager in action, you probably saw him/her sit in a chair or on a couch and ponder for a minute or two. The stager is thinking 'what would I want to do in the best of all worlds sitting in this chair or on this couch?' Would I read a book, drink coffee, eat grapes or watch my favorite show on television? Yes, in order to be a good stager you must engage in frequent flights of fancy. You must be a true romantic. You must be obsessed with the ideal.

Homestagers are story tellers, in fact. We speak for the true character and essence of a house. Home stagers communicate the house's soul beyond the family and friends who spent the last 15 or so years there. In this way, a house is a like a parent who spent 18 years raising a child and once the child leaves, the parent needs to find itself again. Like empty-nest parents, a house needs to find itself again once its long time inhabitors have made the decision to move. Indeed, a house needs assistant to help it get prepared for the next phase of its life. Home sellers make a mistake by defining a room by how its been used for the past five or ten years. Once you have made the decision to find a new home, do your current house a favor and reclaim, then highlight the house's soul before showcasing it to potential buyers.
